"The stirring within and continuously reminded by my most revered father, was my conscience always telling me, whatever you are, you owe it to the society. I have the conviction that only by doing selfless service to the needy and the poorest of the poor, one can achieve a true sense of satisfaction and happiness; the highest purpose of life."
Dr. Desh Bandhu Gupta, Founder & Chairman, Lupin Ltd

Lupin Limited flourished predictably well, yet in its Chairman Shri Desh Bandhu Gupta’s sub conscious, there always was a strange stirring within. “Whatever you are you owe it to your motherland and its people. Take it upon yourself to repay this debt in all humility and gratitude.” Beyond the realms of business, Shri Desh Bandhu Gupta, Chairman and Founder of Lupin group of companies promoted Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation on 2nd October, 1988 with an objective to provide an alternative model of rural development which is sustainable, replicable and ever evolving. This was a humble tribute to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary.
Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation (LHWRF) is thus an independent entity of Lupin Limited, implementing Lupin CSR activities all over India. This organization has been registered under Societies Act/ Trust act and exempted under 35 AC and 80 G. LHWRF is also entitled to take foreign funding through its Foreign Contribution Regulation Act account.
The ‘Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation’ (LHWRF) is committed to take care of the less privileged section of society and has become a proactive partner for building the nation. The Lupin foundation has initiated an efficient alternative system of village development based on prevailing system for empowering village people and marginalized sections of the society. Lupin Foundation has now succeeded in revitalizing, revamping and recreating life in more than 3323 villages in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra ,Uttrakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu Kishmir, Gujrat and Goa states of India, which accentuate the foundation, emerging as one of the largest NGOs in the country.
That’s how it all began. A stirring within, a voice that kept repeating day and night. Lupin’s founder Dr. Desh Bandhu Gupta could not ignore that still, small voice urging him to do something for India’s villages, to give back to society something of what it had given him and in giving, receive. Thus Lupin Rural Support Programme (LRSP), (later rechristened as Lupin Human Welfare & Research Foundation) was set up on October 2, 1988, Mahatma Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary with the objective of providing an alternative model of Holistic Rural Development in the country, which is sustainable, replicable and ever evolving. Initiating the programme of rural development within a small number of 35 villages, Lupin Foundation has now succeeded in revitalizing, revamping and recreating life in more than 3323 villages in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra ,Uttrakhand, Andhra Pradesh,Jammu Kishmir, Gujrat and Goa states of India , which has led to Lupin Foundation emerging as one of the largest NGOs in the country
Lupin Foundation is thus an independent entity of Lupin Ltd., implementing CSR activities all over India. The Foundation has been successful in making a big difference in the development of poverty-ridden villages, and especially in the life of the poorest of the poor and empowerment of a large number of women in these areas. In addition, it has created a model for poverty alleviation and employment generation (self-employment and placement) which can be replicated in the country.
